Exploring HBCU's
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) were created with the primary objective of providing higher education opportunities for African-American students during a time when racial segregation and discrimination were prevalent in the United States.
HBCUs were created in response to the systemic racial discrimination and segregation that denied African Americans access to mainstream educational institutions. Their founding purpose was to provide African-American students with opportunities for higher education and to address educational disparities during a challenging period in American history.
